Boiler explodes at county farm injuring Levi Cripe
Levi Cripe, a demented inmate at the county farm, died Saturday afternoon from injuries suffered when a boiler explosion damaged the residence boiler in the basement. About ten o clock that morning an apparent clog in pipes prevented water and steam escape, tearing and crushing Cripe as superintendent Bush rushed to help. Cripe, about 34, had worked at the farm for ten years and remained unconscious until death.

Fatal Fourth of July Rocket Accident in New York
Ralph Wirt of Chicago was mortally injured by a skyrocket explosion during a fireworks display on the Fourth of July. The 28 year old assistant secretary of the Diamond Match Company died the following Wednesday after the rocket rod pierced his skull. Remains were sent to Delphi for burial. Wirt had moved from Frankfort to Chicago in 1892 and had recently risen to a senior post with the company in New York.
