Radio Don’ts for Stable Oscillation in Tuned Circuits
Do not rely on capacitance alone to tune the grid circuit. Keep L to C ratio nearly constant. Avoid matching natural periods of tickler and grid. Keep tekler and plate variometer away from grid to prevent detuning. High impedance tubes misbehave in low impedance circuits. Try multiple detectors before discarding a regenerative receiver. Soft gas cell tubes excel as detectors, hard tubes as over-layers. Do not treat inductors with moisture-absorbing coatings.
