Sup t Denman outlines high school policy and enrollment plans for the rural district. Tuition remains 15 a month for non residents as new freshmen and transfers boost expected enrollment. Early enrollment urged. late arrivals must make up work and risk a shortened schedule. Improvements include expanded student activities financed by profits from plays and athletics.

Re Opening of Schools Sets Week Start in Districts

Schools will reopen in all districts next week with term starting Tuesday morning. In Maron Cedar Draw and Washington the sessions begin Monday. Enrolments are expected to exceed previous records as buildings and grounds receive summer improvements and teaching staffs are largely filled, except one position in local grade schools.

Local businesses plan closures Monday in observance of Labor Day. Banks will also close for the day as a legal holiday in this state.

Grants potato rate reduction with condition

The Interstate Commerce Commission grants Union Pacific permission to cut Idaho potato rates to Missouri River and eastern points by 20 cents per hundred pounds. Reduction can take effect on one day’s notice and ends September 30. Current Colorado differential of 14 cents complicates, as lowering Colorado rate would be needed to equalize with Idaho.

At Twin Falls county fair from September 12 to 25 county women showcase bread pies cookies and doughnuts. Judges say modern recipes and techniques surpass earlier methods with many entries in baking sewing and canning. Railroad to Wells to be Constructed Assured by Hearing

A joint Idaho and Nevada public utilities hearing at Wells reviewed the Rogerson Wells line. Conrad Wolfie claimed funds and rails for 100 miles, with construction ready. the certificate may be canceled, with Wells to Rogerson as the planned route. Gooding Eyes Ford Fire Engine at Filer Demonstration

A Gooding delegation including city officials and firemen attended a Friday night demonstration of Filer's fire-fighting apparatus. They toured the Ford engine used by the volunteer department, led by Fire Chief Herbert Meyer, and praised the display in the Mattson addition and central town area. The visit included councilmen J. Breckenridge Injured When Tram Team Runs Away

W. J. Breckenridge, living northeast of town, sustained painful injuries Monday when a team he was driving in the field ran away. He was bruised about the chest but is reported to have practically recovered by Tuesday morning.

Twin Falls county commissioners open hearings on forming the Snake River drainage district to back Americant Pallet dam water rights. Board Cuts Idaho Farm Land Valuations in 1923 Session

The Idaho board of equalization adjourned the 1923 session with net increases of about 1,000 in reported property valuations. Statewide agricultural values rose from 270,073, and total property value reached roughly 362.5 million, while Twin Falls County again saw a reduction.
