Sawtooth Be Come Famous Sawtooth Be Come Famous
The Sawtooth mountains gain fame as a summer vacation draw, boosted by the new Galena summit route connecting Stanley basin to Balmon river areas. The Forest Service plans a Salmon City to Challis road meeting state highway standards, with survey work complete from Challis to Branley and a likely join with Galena summit. The route, guided by Forest Service oversight, will ease access to Hed Fish and A turus lakes for camping fishing and hunting, with maps and road logs at the forest office in Halley and other points. Campfires must be extinguished when leaving sites and wind safety rules enforced.
