Woman's Club to Sponsor Lyceum Course this Season

Filer will hire a lyceum series this year sponsored by the Woman's Club. The lineup includes Ellison-White talent with entertainments at Reybreco roof garden. Season tickets are on sale with student rates at 1.25 and adult reserved seats at 2.60. The Fisher Operatic Quintet opens on November 5, followed by J Franklin Babb on December 27. The Merry Rondolieros perform January 14, Pitt Parker appears February 16, and Wisewehi’s Floreative-musicians close February 20.

Halted Testimony in Southard Trial At Twin Falls

Yesterday the state’s testimony in the Southard murder case was halted to allow defense and prosecution to argue whether to submit testimony on the death of the defendant’s first three husbands. Judge Mabcock temporarily sustained the defense motion. Chemists have dominated court time. K R Dooley, Twin Falls city chemist and former Piler public schools superintendent, testified as a principal witness. Post mortem of Edward F Meyer showed about ten grains of arsenic in his body at death.

Two Farm Sales Set For Next Week

Two farm sales are advertised for next week, one on Wednesday near the city with A M Grindstaff selling farm equipment at a biv raunch, and another on Thursday north of the city at the northwest corner of Filer Mutyon and Son. Hopkins and Munyon plan a new modern residence on Unies avenue by Michael Vincent, to be completed in about two weeks.

Price Dairy Herd Is Now Accredited

William Price dairy herd near Filer has been accredited tuberculosis free, the third in the community. The certificate, issued August 23 and valid for one year, covers a purebred Jer sey male and nine cows. Price and neighboring herds at 1.5, Otto, and BF McPherson are among the few accredited in the county. Inspections chief W A Sullivan praised Price for aiding the TB eradication drive and thanked him for his cooperation with the livestock industry.

Clean Up Squad Arrives Next Week in Filer

A government investigators unit for disabled ex service men will arrive next month in Filer. W. D. Gillis of the American Legion leads local efforts urging all veterans with any government claims to file with him.
