Filer Lady Hurt in Odd Accident
Mrs Orval Peterson nee Mary Graybill was seriously injured in Eugene Oregon when a trolley pole fell through the top of the automobile they rode in She is the daughter of Rev and Mrs D L Graybill a former resident She was en route to Patterson public school where she teaches and her husband to Eugene Bible University They were struck as a street car passed and the pole struck a guy wire She was briefly unconscious and treated at Pacific Christian hospital before being sent home with expected swift recovery.

Jurko Denied New Trial In Idaho Court
Judge W A Babcock denied Jurko a new trial in district court for the first degree murder of A B W Vandenmerk. Jurko, convicted last September, was sentenced to death with execution set for November 14 at Bolas State Prison. An appeal to the state court will pursue the order and the transcript of evidence from the trial has been completed, with the record on appeal to the supreme court soon.

Official election canvass shows no changes over first report figures
Canvass by the board of county commissioners of the Tuesday November 4 election reveals no significant changes. The constitutional amendment failed by 60 votes in this county. Total turnout was 8820, about 600 fewer than the last presidential election and 300 more than the election two years ago.

Filer Woman's Club Presents Lucey for Library Fund
In observance of National Children's Book Week the Filer Woman's Club brings entertainer Thomas Elmore Lucey to the Methodist Church for a public program. Proceeds go to the Free Library started by the club. Lucey, a former World Tour performer, is a reader humorist author crayon artist impersonator poet actor and song characterist. Admission is 60 cents to fit all budgets. The event, scheduled for Friday night at 7 40, aims to raise funds for more children's books.

Service Station Changed Hands Here Yesterday
A deal was consumated here yesterday whereby H Kalbfleisch, pioneer Filerman, bought out the interests of I Davis in the Central Service station, possession taken immediately. Davis plans to move near Twin Falls after years in the area. Kalbfleisch recently returned from southern California and has lived here 14 years, continuing the same lines at the station.

The Twin Falls Canal company board approved a 1.50 auto maintenance levy for next year, payable in two installments in March and October. The levy, same as last year, is expected to raise about 404,600, with the board promising strict economy. Ditch cleaning and repairs were ordered stopped.

Village hires night watchman amid fire risk concerns
