Northwest Conference M B C Church in Session Here

The Mennonite society holds a ministerial convention and annual conference in progress Friday and Saturday with a camp meeting starting last Sunday and running to June 18. Evangelist Rev J G Grout of Tonasket WA leads services with Professor Witt. Attending ministers include Rev A W Harbeast and Rev A C Embree among others. A foreign missionary meeting is set for Sunday at 2:30 PM. A tent on the avenue suffered minor damage during a wind and rain storm Monday night.

Reynolds Child Falls From Moving Auto During Parade

Three year old Richard Reynolds fell from a roadster while en route to Twin Falls for a circus parade. He landed on concrete near the railroad crossing after the right door opened. He was bruised and frightened but later rated not seriously injured at the county hospital.

Jule to Plane Duck Hunting Model Boat Launched

Frank Hinkley, veteran sailor, has built and launched a model boat named Jule to Plane designed for duck hunting. The 32 foot craft weighs under 150 pounds and seats three, built with Bt. Lawrence river sailing gear, easily road transportable and viewable at the Nibley Channel lumber yard. Julia Is Plane belongs to Mowers Hinkley and Jobe Peony.

Veterans Insurance Drive Aims at Fifteen Thousand in Oregon Idaho

A week long campaign led by Dr CH Sprague of the U S Veterans Bureau in Pocatel lo seeks to enlist ex service men in applying for government insurance as part of a regional drive. The goal is to reach at least £50 000 per veterans in the district and help lift the state total toward 1 000 000 with post participation from the American Legion across the Pacific Northwest.

Seattle to Davenport on foot a chiropractic dream

Walking tourists from Seattle passed through Filer Tuesday evening. The group includes Mr Searby, RM, a late girl, and two Australian children traveling afoot toward Davenport Iowa to study chiropractic. They left Seattle April 17 and have covered about a thousand miles of a 2500 mile journey with a two wheel cart and an infant under a canopy.

A public meeting was scheduled for Monday evening at the Schildman home to organize the Business Woman's Club tennis activities and prepare Vak avener's court for summer use, inviting community participation.

Paul M. Ellis of Filer is commissioned as a second lieutenant in the infantry reserve corps at Macon. He earned a bachelor of arts degree from the University of Idaho and completed the four year officers training course. Injury, Winkle brothers hospitalized after altercation

O Winkle of near Buhl, brother of Clarence L E and Jack of Filer, was injured in a dispute with Mr Smalley and hospitalized with a fractured wrist after being struck by a shovel. He is out of danger. His brother Jack rushed him to hospital. O Winkle has two children and was married in the area. Winkle’s condition improves as family and local growers eye future potato prospects amid a general crop outlook noting heavy yields in Idaho and surrounding states.

Business Woman's club names officers and closes year

Mra Restelia Bickley was reelected president at the annual meeting Monday evening. The Business Woman's club completed its first year of existence with a prosperous year both financially and membership steady at about 36. Other accomplishments included free traveling for War relief to Filers, sponsoring the tennis club and other community projects. Edith Williane served as treasurer. she was named vice president last year. Mrs William Taylor was reelected secretary, Miss Gall Musser named treasurer, and Mrs W I Short was chosen corresponding secretary.

Large O E S Chapter party for Twin Falls lodges hosts hundreds

Two hundred members of the Order of East ern Star and Masonic lodges from Twin Falls Bub Canyon and Filer with their spouses attended a party at Reybroco roof garden hosted by Filer chapter 0 8 last evening. The hall was decorated in colors and flowers. A program followed by social hour and refreshments. A chorus and readings entertained, with Mrs G W Shearer directing and Mrs K A Heom accompanying. Performances included Twilight Dream Criss Creme Babies and more, with various members singing and readings delivered. The chairman, Mrs TL Cartons, assisted by officers, presided as the event closed with the committee’s thanks.

Grand larceny charge was reduced to a misdemeanor for William Shephard of Twin Falls who admitted taking an old Ford touring car. Prosecutor and tester W C Fletcher lowered the vehicle value, and Probate Judge Jo Duvall sentenced Shephard to 0 days in jail on bail after a stalled trip toward Rogerson ended near Hollister where he was arrested by Sheriff M Hamilton and Pletcher.

Phelps Secures Elko Nevada Gravel Road Contract

The 20 mile gravel road contract near Elko Nevada has been awarded. Th J Wallace a superintendent, leads a crew dismantling and storing cement mixing gear used on last year’s state highway project. New concrete construction under N Holmes will employ local men and others from the Holmes organization in Nevada this summer. Wheipe arrived Tuesday and plans to depart for Elko today with about 15 farm men set to leave Sunday to start work on the project.
