The board last night awarded the six block Main Street paving contract to Potter and Salmon of Burley for 1516 dollars with concrete paving. The decision, in a three to two vote, favored concrete over the cheaper butyllithic option. Construction to start next week depends on water main installation and bond-funded pipe purchase.

Agreement at Park Meeting Sets Threshing Prices

Farmers and threshermen settled fall threshing rates at Twin Falls park after noon on Saturday. Wheat and barley priced five cents. oats included at 12 cents if threshers supply price. Eight Champion Horses Die in Lightning Strike Barn Fire

A barn three miles north of Filer, Idaho, housing eight top horses owned by BR Waite, was struck by lightning early Monday, destroying shifting stock valued at about 60 40 dollars with insurance covering most losses. The fire, fed by rain soaked timber, overwhelmed the structure around 1 24 am, killing famed Percheron and Shire stallions and mares noted as grand champions across the northwest. Neighbor Charles Deklote arrived first, but the blaze had progressed beyond saving the horses, harnesses, hay, and gear.
