Grover C. Davis was unanimously chosen chief for the next year at the department’s annual meeting. The 12 active members have held semi monthly meetings and monthly drills since the March 1922 organization, with two alarms in ten months, one false and one to extinguish railroad-tie blaze on the O S L right of way. Members receive a communal fee plus monthly retainers and per-fire-call pay.

Hollister Next Hoop Opponent for FHS Team
The Filer High School basketball team will face Hollister on the local floor Friday at 8 p.m. Coach M. L. Pearson says the boys are focused and will play better than last Friday when they edged Kimberly 11 to 13. Stowe and Love led Filer, while Kimberly’s Stowe impressed spectators with long shots. An exhibition by the Sophomores and Seniors preceded the main game, and next week Buhl will host girls and boys teams with Miss Gertrude Walter coaching the girls. New Officials Take Over Reins of Government

Mr A A Timm and Mrs Charles received telegraphic notice Wednesday evening of the sudden death of their brother J A Wolfinger at Whittier California. Death followed heart failure after he and Mrs Wolfinger wintered there. He recently disposed of business interests in Colon Michigan. He and his wife visited here two years ago and have many acquaintances in Filer. He is survived by a brother and two sisters.

One of the greatest Duroc Jersey boars Majestic Constructor is said to be with Dr R Armes and F C Graves, recently added to the local herd as community growth continues. Bred by Dimig and York, Nebraska, sired by Constructor, a world champion Durc Jersey boar and grand champion at the 1922 National Swine Show. The boar’s mate placed third in class at the Kansas State Fair. A registered Duroc Jersey sale at Dr Armes and C A Me Master on January 19 in Twit Pallé will offer five granddaughters of Great Orion Sensation bred to Majestic Constructor.

Bern Engle 43 died at county hospital after surgery. He moved to Filer 12 years ago from Abilene Kansas where born January 4, 1880. He married Sadie Miller February 12, 1913. Survived by widow and three sons Lyman Donald Cecil. Funeral at Mennonite Brethren church conducted by F S Kagey with interment in I O F cemetery.
