Rural High School Opens Year With Broad Curriculum
The Rural High School plans a September 6 opening at nine am with enrollment in the morning and regular releases at one pm. Tuition for out of district students may reach $15 per month. About 120 to 140 students are expected, with 40 to 50 freshmen. New library, athletic facilities, orchestra, and chemistry course are planned. faculty will be experienced and well prepared.

Improvements Made at Filer Roller Mills
The Piler Roller Mills owned by J. W. Eaton has summer upgrades including a patent bleacher and extensive repairs totaling about 100,000 dollars. The mill produces Best Banquet flour, sold directly to consumers in the area. Eaton plans a new flour blend this fall combining soft and hard wheat while a straight hard wheat flour is currently produced at the Jolat mill.

Catholic Church Dedicated by Bishop Gorman at Filer
The church of St. Thomas Aquinas was blessed and dedicated Tuesday by Rt. Rev. Daniel M Gorman bishop of the Boise diocese. He confirmed eleven children and one adult. The Rev Remi 8 Keyser and Rev George DeStoop attended from nearby parishes. Bishop Gorman, who came from Pocatello after dedicating a new orphan's home there, praised the progress of the church at Filer. A dinner at the Klaas home followed the day’s events.

They reported a remarkable lava country twenty miles south of Arco and described cones, lava formations and pits. Two Fireproof Buildings Under Construction in City
Two new fireproof structures are rising near Front Street occupied by the Filer Hardware company. One brick building measures 75 by 12 feet, the other a one story brick structure to be used for storage and garages. Brickwork is complete and interior framing proceeds.
