Pleasant surprise party honors Boslers on fifth anniversary

Mr. and Mrs. Chas Bosler celebrated their fifth wedding anniversary with a Sunday evening surprise party. Euchre prizes went to Mrs. Bosler, Mrs. Olinger, and others. Andy Jochim and Paul Jochim won gents prizes. Many presents were given, and guests included members of the Olinger and Jochim families and friends from Milwaukee, Mariah Hill, and Evansville.

Mehling and Seger Wed at St Ferdinand Church

John Mehling married Gertrude Seger at St Ferdinand Catholic Church last Tuesday morning with Rev Father Schorno officiating. The couple, attired neatly, then dined at Mrs Grewes home and held a free wedding dance at Barths Hall later.

Reds Win 11 1 Over St Meinrad In Local Game

Ferdinand Reds traveled to St Meinrad last Sunday and defeated the Monastery town team 11 to 1. C Schnellenberger fanned nine and Olinger ten, both pitchers delivering strong performances. Reds praised the fair officiating and favorable reception from St Meinrad players.

Reds and Winstons Duel in Third Game this Season

The Winstons of Huntingburg visit Sunday for the third game with the Reds. The Reds won the first game 7 to 5 and the Winstons took the second 9 to 6. It promises to be the star game of the season as all baseball fans should attend.

Tax Levy Reductions Adopted by Dubois County Council

The Dubois County Council convened in Jasper on September 1 and adopted 1908 appropriations with members J H Beckmann Wm Heitman Jos Friedman Sr Wm Harbison Geo P Wagner and Philip Schwenk. They elected J H Beckmann president and Wm Heitman secretary. The record lists township assessments Farmers Institute totals and emergency funds totaling 32983 50 with an emergency levy of 1287 and an ordinance taxing 28 cents per dollar of taxable property for the year 1908.

Birth announced of a baby boy to Mr and Mrs Andy Hollinden. White cook and white nurse sought for employment at 2041 Brock St Louisville Ky. Local notices include a wanted 75 bushels of vats and information at this office. George and Ed Becher of St Meinrad began work on Paul Schreiner’s residence and will start Mr Drach’s new house.
