Senator Knox Dies Suddenly in Washington Home
Washington, Oct 18. United States Senator from Pennsylvania and former attorney general and secretary of state Knox died suddenly in the library of his home. He collapsed from a stroke at age sixty nine while walking to dinner with Mrs. Knox and their secretary. Knox had just returned from Europe after several weeks abroad and had appeared tired earlier in New York. He played a major role in anti Versailles treaty positions and proposed a world organization to sustain the Monroe Doctrine.
