Former Resident Joseph Kuntz Dies in Huntingburg

Joseph Kuntz died at his Huntingburg home last Saturday from blood poisoning after a cross tie injured his foot at Stimpson's lumber mill on Sept. 26. Born in Ferdinand on April 24, 1852, he married Clara Olding on May 21, 1878. He moved to Huntingburg eighteen years ago and leaves his widow, eight children, and twenty-three grandchildren. Interment was at St. Mary's Church in Huntingburg on Monday at 7:30 AM following a requiem Mass.

Town of Ferdinand marshal Frank N. Roos orders all children under fifteen to be home by eight p m from November through April and by nine p m from April to November. Prosecutions will follow for violations though children on important errands or with parents will be excused.

New calcium chloride dust control tested near Indianapolis

Indiana motorists group reports a new calcium chloride dust laying material showing promise on the Lafayette road seven miles north of Indianapolis. The salt absorbs moisture to keep the surface damp, preventing dust and allowing dragging without losing the chemical. The Hoosier State Automobile Association says the method is not costly and could cover many miles quickly while serving motorists’ interests.

Newlyweds Given a Charivari at Niehaus Home

An old time charivari was given at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Frank Niehaus last Sunday night for Min and Mrs. Hubert Niehaus. Many relatives and friends attended, including the Skeltons Ringemanns Metzgers Schlachters and Niehaus relatives. The evening featured dancing and games with abundant refreshments and continued late.
