Tax Commissioners Reject Bonds For Kerstiens Road
The state board of tax commissioners blocks a total 330,500 in proposed road bonds in Madison Boone and Dubois counties due to remonstrances by taxpayers. The Kerstiens road in Ferdinand township Dubois county 830,000 was among the refused issues. County auditor Frank Leng reports the decision received Monday.

Citizens Training Camp Opens at Camp Knox Ky
A Citizens Military Training Camp will open at Camp Knox Kentucky for Indiana Kentucky Ohio and West Virginia in the Fifth Army Corps Area on July 1 to run four weeks. The camp is open to men aged sixteen to thirty five of sound character intelligent and fit. No educational qualifications are required but each candidate must file a certificate of good character signed by a schoolmaster clergyman priest or rabbi along with medical testimony on hearing eyesight heart action and general condition. The Knights of Columbus will host a picnic in Senninger's garden on Sunday June 5 and a dance on the evening of June 11. A previous Sunday at St Mary’s Huntingburg featured a school children’s play in the parochial hall with the Ferdinand Brass Band. A Ferdinand train ran a special in the afternoon and another around eleven, about one hundred Ferdinand residents attended. The banns of marriage for George C Hedinger and A Wanninger were published for the first time. County clerk Charles Bartley and wife celebrated their tenth wedding anniversary with friends at Jasper.

Farm altercation ends with arrests near Jasper
On Monday night at ten o'clock on Altmeier's farm near Jasper a dispute between Joe Messmer and Mathias Altmeyer escalated with a shotgun knife and hatchet used. Messmer suffered severe hatchet wounds while Altmeyer had knife wounds. Sheriff Nordinald jailed both men and seized a ten gallon jug of wine before releasing them on hand for home brew excess. A minstrel show by Dale High School seniors is set for Wednesday at 8:30 p.m. in St Ferdinand school hall with seats at McLane's drug store.

Married couple heads to housekeeping after in city nuptials
