A large new barn belonging to Henry Wessel one mile from town was destroyed by fire last Friday night around 8. The blaze started in the loft and rapidly consumed two mules a horse farm implements hay corn and the barn contents. A nearby chicken house burned with all chickens. The granary was saved after several close calls. Total loss about 1000 dollars. Town residents aided but could not stop the flames.
The editor of the News asked for roof repairs five months ago. The roof was mended using available cash as the paper pleaded for help from readers. The note implies the editor’s financial condition and urges a dollar donation to support the publication.

Mr and Mrs John Klueh marked a silver wedding last Sunday with a large invited guest list at their home. Many presents were received. The Daisy Orchestra performed and numerous local residents attended including J Wessel family John Lusch and others from Fulda Evaneville and nearby areas.
