Jasper Ind January 3 The court opened with a grand jury of J P Huther that sat 14 days and returned twelve indictments. George Friedman paid fifty dollars for shouting at Dora Eich Miller. Henry Ferribach stood trial for unlawful liquor sale. Indictments included Ed Gutzweiler for first degree murder and Thad Tabor for rape of a girl under sixteen. Upcoming trials include William Lytle on John Pinnick. Gustav Weerter and C G Bosler attended. Spur geon murder case heard with state opening, followed by defense.

Pioneer settler Medardus Mehauss dies at Fulda Indiana

Medardus Jacob Medardus Mehauss a pioneer of Fulda Indiana died last Thursday at his son Anton’s home near Ferdinand aged 63. He was born June 8 1920 in Baden Germany emigrated in the 1840s and settled two miles north of Fulda on his Spencer county farm. Funeral held Saturday at Fulda cemetery. May he rest in peace. Mary Niehaus aged 63 died at her brother Ben Niehaus home after pneumonia. Interment at St Ferdinand cemetery. May she rest in peace.

Mr and Mrs Charles Herry and son Walter returned from Louisville and New Albany after holidays. Frank Roos and sons worked at Huntingburg plastering Leo Snyder’s house, who plans to convert it into a store. A carload of Balt. was received by Reckelhof & Muller.

Death of a Good Woman Mrs Engelbert Dilger

Mrs Eliza beth Miller Dilger died at her home after months of liver trouble. Born Sept 1 1871 in Fulda Spencer County she was 58 years 4 months 1 day old. Widow of Engelbert Pilger living in the area she left eleven children seven surviving six sons and five daughters with nine others noted. Interment followed a morning service at the church. The family and friends mourn a Christian woman of patience and sacrifice.

Gasoline Lighting Incident and Local Clergy Death

W A Bressler of 710 Manchester Road St Louis is recovering after burns from a gasoline lighting system in his home. He saved his life by pouring buckets of water on flames. Rev Father Joseph Dickmann, longtime priest at St Mary's Evansville parish, died at his parish home Tuesday. He was ordained at St Meinrad on September 1 1872.

Bridge crew man injured in Boenville fall

Leonard Roth of the Southern River bridge crew fell from a bridge near Boenville last Friday, suffering facial and hand injuries. He recovered enough to return to work after a few days. The Whit Oak Lumber Co. purchased by Andermen Valley Lumber and Spoke Cocef was sent to Indianapolis Wednesday and is expected to be traded for a new bandsaw. Ferdinand Railways plans a switch into Ben Seufert's vacant lot near the brewers, with a large ware room to be built on the site.
