Residents from Huntingburg Celestine and surrounding areas attend visits and dances report townsfolk like Miss Josephine Luebbehusen and Miss Dena Meyers visiting Huntingburg. Geor ge Schmidt travels to Rockport and Ben Bockting visits town while local saw millers cope with deep snow and livestock trade expands in Kentucky.
Mariah Hill notes Henry Hohmann of Kelso Missouri visited relatives here late last week. Owensboro guests this week include local relatives. Mrs Henry Bredhold spends a few days with her sister and family in Owensboro. Mrs Peter Schneider and daughter of Terre Haute attended the funeral of her mother Mrs Peter Lehnen here last Friday. Gust and Victor Holtzgmann and Albert Wirthwein of Fulda spent a few hours in town Saturday. Andrew Schum and Frank Gogel were in Ferdinand on business Monday.
Fred Lochrlein and Theodore Otto of St Meinrad visited Simon Lichrlein’s family Sunday. Meinrad and Leo Birechler attended the wedding of Louis Kaelin and Anna Hollinde in Owensboro this Tuesday. Frank Jacob and Albert Thoma moved their saw mill to Frank Guoota’s farm, where substantial timber is available. Mrs Katherine Goetz’s 180 acre farm will be sold at public auction on Saturday February 28, located one mile northeast of town and includes 20 acres of timber.
St Henry notes the local correspondent likened to a groundhog seeing a shadow on February 2. He suggests the period of quiet will last about six weeks unless a noteworthy event occurs. The item references a marriage and a playful aside about forthcoming reports.

Jack Alles and wife from Jasper spent Sunday in town, Fred Frank of Haysville came Monday on business, Mrs John Beckmann shopped in Jasper Saturday, John Thiemann was in Cuzco Tuesday on business, Eddie Montgomey the barber visited Crystal, Wim Dages of Celestine was in town Tuesday, and George Stamm, a Township Assessor candidate for Harbison township, was in town Tuesday.
Miss Anna Nante returned from Louisville last week to stay with family. Andy Hooten and Joseph Humbert known as Chicken and White Joe spent Wednesday at Jasper. Miss Mary Junge returned from Louisville to be at Lena Hooten’s bedside. Miss Oliva Merkel of Dubois visited her uncle Ben Gehlhausen. A pea hulling party at Mrs. Mary Wrasche’s last Tuesday. Miss Maggie Goodman confined to bed and wished a speedy recovery. Thessing Kemp wedding dance attended by local youths in Dubois. Emma Scheppers two years old ill with dropsy.
Notice to Ferdinand residents that a male 21 plus years old, resident 90 days, will apply to Dubois County Commissioners at the March 1914 term for leave to sell spirituous vinous and malt liquors in quantities under a quart for one year at a room 24 by 25 feet on the ground floor of a two story frame building on lot 235 at Ohio Street. The license includes selling luncheon and confection and is subject to state liquor laws.
Ben Hubers and family of Missouri are visiting friends and relatives in St Meinrad while Gerhard Gehthaggen and son are also mentioned in this brief note.

The notice cites the act regulating spirituous vinous malt and other intoxicating liquors.
