First Excursion Out Ferdinand Railway Delights Town
Last Sunday the first passenger train left Ferdinand for Huntingburg with about ninety locals aboard. Ladies led the excursion staff, bands played, and the day featured scenic stops, photos, and a return to Ferdinand by six. Death of John Haug prominent Johnsburg farmer at 74
John Haug a longtime farmer near Johnsburg died last Sunday after months of illness at age 74 years, 1 month and 29 days. An early settler who came to America at 20, he lived near Johnsburg and belonged to the St. Henry congregation. Survived by his wife and seven sons, including William and John, owners of Ferdinand Brewery, with five other children. burial was in St. Henry cemetery Tuesday morning. News extends sympathy to the bereaved.
