The fifth township institute met Saturday in the public school with sessions on English Government School and its Life and Industrial Education. Teachers led discussions on the duties of a superintendent and board of education and the need for initiative, followed by afternoon music and further talks on House of Commons structure, elections, and member qualifications. The event closed at 3 30 PM with Wirtzberger and Bartley serving as officers.

Gerhard Auffart, an 84 year old prominent farmer near Ferdinand, died Wednesday evening at 6:30 due to old age after a period of feebleness. He leaves eight children: Bernard in Maryville Missouri, Katherine Verkamp in Arkansas, Mary Speer in Billings Missouri, Diena Hoppenjaus and Theresia Verkamp on a local farm, and Joe Eberhard and Anton at home. Funeral is scheduled for tomorrow at nine in the morning.
