Ferdinand Loses Good Citizen John G Beckmann

John G Beckmann, a Ferdinand business leader known for pork packing and land speculation, died of acute uremia at 65. He built an empire across Indiana and Kentucky, was active in the Elk lodge and Catholic church, and leaves a widow, four children, two brothers, and a sister. Interment is in St Ferdinand cemetery after a ten o'clock requiem Mass.

Large quilting gathering at Peter Pfaff Jr home

A community quilting day drew many relatives and friends to Peter Pfaff Jr. home with Miss Clara Partenheimer and others attending the daytime session. In the evening the Never Quit Orchestra provided music as guests enjoyed beer and cake and the crowd dispersed after a country frolic.

Tretter Peters Wedding at St Ferdinand Church

Elizabeth Tretter and Joe Peters were married at St Ferdinand church Tuesday morning with Rev Father John officiating. Frances Peters and Christian Tretter served as attendants. After the ceremony the couple shared breakfast with relatives and friends and began a day of celebration.

Indiana Prohibition Law Features Agreed For Next Year

The statewide prohibition bill in Indiana bans manufacture and sale of liquor after April 2, 1918. Druggists may sell only pure grain alcohol while whisky and wine sales are forbidden. Domestic wine or cider production for home use and clergy sacramental wine are allowed. Beverages must be disposed of within ten days after effect.
