The Ferdinand Catholic Church Choir directed by H. F. Brackman presents a December 12, 1922 program at 7 30 P M during the Farmers Short Course. Performers include Mrs Hugo Senninger on piano and Miss Amanda Mueller with various choral and solo numbers, ending with Blue Danube.

Ferdinand and Jasper Face Off In Friday Basketball Clash

Friday afternoon December 7 Jasper Independents and Ferdinand meet in the local gym in a highly anticipated game. Jasper, famed as one of the league’s fastest teams, challenges the struggling Ferdinand five, which seeks a win to snap a winless streak with strong home support expected.

Mrs Beckmann Dies After Paralytic Stroke

Mrs J H Beckmann died at her home last Friday evening at 5 30 from a paralytic stroke after six months of rheumatism. Born Katherine Anna Sehmitz in Cologne Germany December 14 1846 she came to America as a child. She and her husband ran a general store and parking business in the same building where she died. Interment was at St Ferdinand cemetery after a requiemMass conducted by Father Odile. She is survived by a daughter Mrs William R Sauer a grandson Louis Sauer and her husband predeceased her in 1921.

Ferdinand Basket Erupts in Loss to Selvin Five

Ferdinand lost a hard fought game to the Selvin Five on November 29 with a 20 to 17 final. After a 15 to 4 first half Ferdinand led, but Selvin added forwards to start the second half and secured victory. Surprise Birthday Party For Mrs Boehm At Dale Indiana

Mrs Ed Boehm was surprised by friends Sunday evening as she returned from Ferdinand. A birthday cake and lunch were shared, with dancing to a Victrola. George Troxier Dies in St Louis After Prolonged Illness

George Troxier aged 79 years 11 months 5 days died in St Louis Saturday of last week from complications of old age. His remains reached St Anthony Indiana and burial occurred Tuesday at eight in the morning. Surviving children include Mrs Henry Frick George Troxier Mrs Ed Nash Mrs William Muenz and Mrs E J Mason of St Louis Tony Troxier of Petersburg Carl Troxier of this place. Train wreck at Johnsburg marks worst in local history

Johnsburg Indiana Thanksgiving disaster derailed eleven coal cars due to a broken arch bar. Two wooden and two steel cars were destroyed, smashing Wallace Milling elevator and wrecking the building. A wrecking crew and 56 section men worked from 7 AM to 7:30 PM to clear the main line. no injuries reported.
