Mount Weather Observatorium advances upper air research
Mount Weather in Virginia launches a major weather bureau project for upper air exploration. The facility plans wind, magnetic and solar studies with kites and balloons, a new central heating plant, and a three story fireproof observatory to support long range forecasting near Washington.
