Martin Maffenbeier of Mariah Hill Passes Away
Martin Maffenbeier aged 84 years seven months and twenty eight days died at his son Augusts home following age related complications. Born in Germany in 1834 he came to Indiana in 1851 and married Mary Eva Kkoch in 1863. Survived by eight children and several grandchildren and great grandchildren. Interment in Mariah Hill cemetery.

Public Sale At Olinger Farm Near Mariah Hill
The undersigned will hold a public sale of personal property at his farm one mile north of Mariah Hill on the Mariah Hill and St. Henry road starting at 9 00 A M Wednesday Sept 10. Ferdinand Olinger and Alois and Emil Uebelhor of Rayne La have moved to Mrs Mary Kaminenbergs house opposite Beckmann State Bank. The rest of the family remains in Rayne to tend the rice crop. Olinger has rheumatism and Alois recently underwent an appendectomy in Evansville. Hubert Drach has arrived home from service overseas and is the last of three Drach sons to return. Weddings announced at St Ferdinand church included Edward Altmann to Blandina Klueh and Albert Eversmann to Emma Senninger. Henry Uebelhor and wife welcomed a baby boy last Saturday. Wanted a girl or woman for general housework call Mrs Leo Birchler Evanston Ind R R 1. The Hale Spoke Company loaded a car load of spokes Tuesday.

The Attorney General holds township trustees may not transport or pay for transportation of high school pupils under the 1919 act. The prior law is not in force. Trustees must provide transport for certain grade pupils in abandoned districts and may aid transport if conditions warrant.
