Drowned at Mississippi outing claims Lawrence Havlik

Lawrence Havlik of J Louis died during a Mississippi River swim about 40 miles from St Louis. Ed Bromm and another man from St Louis were present. Havlik drowned from cramps and his body was recovered Tuesday after swift currents. He was 29, longtime shoe factory employee, son of Mr and Mrs Jos Havlik Sr. Burial Thursday morning.

Turkeys Trigger Legal Skirmish Near Branchville

Branchville Indiana August 13 1910 A dispute over turkeys allegedly trespassing on Mrs Ella Mullins property led to a clash with Mrs Mary Sprinkle lodging an assault with intent charge that was later dropped in favor of a minor count. A turkey named casualty marked the incident amid a peaceful community shaken by the unusual quarrel. Local residents and visitors later noted Sunday travels and visits to nearby towns.

Death of Jacob Limberger at 61 in Evansville area

Jacob Limberger of 318 Lincoln Avenue died Tuesday at 8 PM of tuberculosis of the throat aged almost 61. Born in Spencer County, he moved here 44 years ago and married Miss Margaret Arns of Evansville in 1877. Surviving: widow, four sons Edward J VarI Otto of Chicago and Frank M of Crown Furniture City, and daughter Mise Gertrude of Evansville. funeral Friday at 7:30 AM from home and 8 AM at St Marys church. He belonged to St Marys Church. He was well known to locals and formerly lived between here and Mariah Hill.
