Dates Set For Poultry Culling Demonstrations Countywide

The county schedules poultry culling demonstrations across six townships from August 16 to August 23 with 9 30 am and 2 pm sessions led by named farmers in Hall Township Du Bois Ferdinand Ferdinand Township Birdseye Jasper Patoka Huntingburg Dubois Hilham and Dubois areas. Extra sessions may follow and no private cullings will be held by the county agent Roy S Lundin confirms.

Hugo Schlachter son of Louis and Mrs Schlachter married Isabelle Kunkler daughter of George and Mrs Kunkler at St Meinrad Abbey with Rev. Father Kempf officiating. Attendants were George Kunkler and Christina Troesch. After the ceremony the couple visited the bride’s home for celebrations.

Come to Ferdinand for a Grand Sunday Picnic

A large social event is planned in Sen ninger's garden this Sunday for the benefit of St. Ferdinand church. Ferdinand and Mariah Hill brass bands will provide continuous music all day. Attendees will find ample foods refreshments confection amusements and other picnic amenities as the grounds open after high mass. Everyone is urged to attend and support the good cause.

Mrs John Verkamp nee Emelia Menke died at her home south of St Meinrad on Monday morning from heart trouble at age 87. She leaves a husband three children Loretta Agnes and Alma her parents four sisters and five brothers in Nebraska Interment was at St Meinrad on Wednesday morning.
