Mrs Elizabeth Mehling Dies at 81 in Ferdinand
Mrs Elizabeth Wigger Mehling died July 29 after two years of illness. Born in Berne Switzerland she came to America at age seven. She married John C Mehling Sr 68 years ago and had ten children, six living including Joseph Wretting and Mrs Ben Holinde. She lived east of Ferdinand for 63 years of marriage. Funeral from St Ferdinand Catholic Church with burial in church cemetery.

Joseph Ofer of Mariah Hill aged 45 died last Saturday after an operation in New Albany three months prior. He had been living with his sister in Jeffersonville since the surgery. The remains were returned to Mariah Hill for burial on Tuesday. He leaves a widow and several other relatives.

Jasper Youth Dies After Pool Dive Tragedy
Ernest Goeppner nineteen son of Henry Goeppner of Jasper died at St Marys hospital Evansville after a pool dive at Exposition Park. He sank in twenty four feet of water and never resurfaced despite a search and medical aid. Burial followed in Jasper on Wednesday.
