Annual ceremonies at convent receipt of nine young ladies

The solemn ceremony of receiving nine young ladies into the Order of St. Benedict occurred on Sunday August 6 at the Convent of the Immaculate Conception. Officiants included Abbot Athanasius Schmitt and Rev Fintan Wiederkehr with deacon Rev Dominic Barthel and sub deacon Rev Leander Schneider. The event featured final vows by eight sisters, a grand Gregorian musical program, and a reverent high Mass.

Donations Requested for Parish Picnic Benefit

The Young Ladies urge donations of any size for the Country Store for St Ferdinand's Catholic Church picnic on Sept 3. They will collect at the School Hall every Thursday morning until 10 o'clock, with donations and giver names to be published later. All contributions due by August 4. Several former pupils visit the Sisters of the Academy, welcomed back for the new year starting Sept 15, 1911.

The Purdue University Agricultural Experiment Station invites a limited number of Indiana farmers to test ten pounds of each of four or five leading winter wheat varieties on their farms this season. Mrs Henry Hoge Dies After Two Week Illness

Mrs Henry Hoge formerly Mary Elizabeth Merv died Sunday at 5:30 PM at her home after a two week illness of diarrhea. Born in Hannover Province Germany May 1 184? she was 73. She came to America 22 years ago with her husband, lived in Huntingburg before moving to Ferdinand. Survived by seven children Frank Hoge Joe Hoge Mrs Sebastian Bockting and Mrs Gerhard Wellermann. Husband and three children preceded her in death. Interment Tuesday at St Ferdinand Cemetery after requiem mass.
