Reception Day at Ferdinand Convent Celebrates New Postulants
Last Tuesday marked Ferdinand’s annual Reception Day at the Convent with a large crowd, blue skies, and a grand service led by Rt. Rev. Bishop Joseph Chartrand. Postulants wore white, were cloaked in habit, and took vows amid a moving rite with vows read by the novices and two Sisters taking perpetual vows. The day included a solemn Mass, a choral performance by the Convent band, and warm greetings from relatives and visitors.

Examination of Military Exemptions Complete
The Dubois County Local Board finished examining 3000 military applicants Tuesday afternoon. Doctors Johnson of Ireland and Salb of Jasper chaired the process. Many applicants filed exemptions which the Board may accept or refuse. If refused, the applicant may appeal to the District Board within ten days after lists are mailed. Each applicant will receive notice of acceptance or discharge.

Johnsburg Threshing Co met at George Jochum's home and elected two year officers Schwinghammer president Alphonse Krapf vice president John Boening secretary.
