KGED PIONEERS announces the death of Mrs. Ben Verkamp aged 71 at her Ferdinand home. Born April 5, 1843 in Cincinnati, she married Bernard Verkamp in 1864 and mothered twelve children. Interment was in Lae St. Ferdinand cemetery after a requiem mass. twenty-five grandchildren survive.
Mrs. Charles Goepfrich aged 80 years and 28 days died at her home north of Ferdinand on Wednesday morning from old age related illness after a brief period of illness. Born in Germany she came to the United States as a young girl and settled near St Meinrad. She leaves eleven children including Elizabeth Sternberg Joe Goepfrich Katie Mohlenkamp Regina Schaeffer Mary Persohn Robert Roth Joas Schnansa Peter L John Charles and Paul Goepfrich. Her husband died about six years ago. Burial in St Ferdinand cemetery after a requiem mass.
At St Ferdinand church last Sunday, 28 boys and 16 girls received their first holy communion. Boys named include Alois Oser Edward Lasher Victor Helming Walter Daunhauer Leo Peters Max Wollenmann Walter Kaninenberg Edwin Hoge Joseph Wirtzberger Linus Klueh Nicklaus Knust Carl Grewe Leo Leinenbach Albert Krampe Herbert Weyer Leo S ng William Rahman Adolf Begie Victor Goepfherich Alvin Bickwer mert Karl Durchholz Leo Halbleibh Joseph Lueken Benno Remke Louis Gehthausen Leo Schlachter Frank Kippenbrok Henry Verkamp. Girls named include Oliva Oeding Hubertina Quante Hilda Uebelhor Antonetta Schuck Helen Hollinden Ellenora Hollander Ida Bickwermert Maria Boekmann Emma Hoffmann Catherina Egler Rosa Schwappe Theresia Schin etzki.
We thank neighbors and friends who aided us during illness and death of our wife and mother Mia Verkamp. Special thanks to John and Alsender for their help during this time.

Bongel of Lovieville, Henry Tebben of Siberia, Ben Seufert of Schnellville, and many others from Mariah Hill, New Albany, Huntingburg, and Tell City. Burger v Schnaus partition motion denied. appeal granted in case with bond set and exceptions to be prepared. attorneys listed.

Mexican forces and U S mariners clashed after the arrest of American sailors in Vera Cruz. Four Americans died with about 200 Mexicans reported killed. As presses rolled, hostilities reportedly renewed with twelve Americans killed and fifty wounded. Courier advertises Evansville's best paper.
The family of Mrs. Charles Geepfrich expresses heartfelt thanks to neighbors and friends for their aid during illness and death. Special gratitude is given to Rev. Father John for his kindness and spiritual support.
