Superior Court Session Opens in Fayetteville
The Fayetteville superior court opened Monday at ten with 139 civil cases on the calendar. Judge W. E. B. H. Searcy Jr. and Solicitor General Emmett Owens oversee the civil and criminal dockets respectively. The grand jury elected C. D. Redwine foreman and J. F. Smith bailiff. Lee Hand vs A L Matthews was settled before jury, and Genes Coffield was sentenced to hang October 27 between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m.

The School Equipment Committee of the Woman's Club served dinner on the courthouse lawn last Monday. A net of ten dollars was cleared after expenses. The club bought shades for the school house totaling 158 dollars, with proceeds from the dinner to be used for that fund.

Tyrone to Open Standardized Junior High October
Tyrone prepares for an October 2 opening as a centralized junior high for grades eight and nine. Faithful servant Lizzie Buffin dies while visiting New York
Aunt Lizzie Buffin, a devoted Fay etteville helper for thirty years with the Blalock family, died suddenly during a visit to her daughter Emma Shepherd in New York City. Born in Virginia and earlier with the Taylors and Lovetts of Haralson, she was known for kindness to the sick. She was returned to Fay etteville for her funeral held Tuesday.
