The First Georgia district convention in Statesboro adjourned after 461 ballots without a candidate. Brannen reportedly led with a popular majority, while Sheppard challenges results. Also reports on Governor Terrell backing Georgia agricultural colleges, the battleship Georgia near Tybee, and a race-based streetcar boycott in Savannah.
William J. Bryan spoke Thursday night from a stand at Cincinnati baseball park, introduced by Mayor E. J. Dempsey. About 10,000 seats in the grand stand and thousands more in auxiliary chairs were filled for the address.

In Rosebud Texas a white farmer Frank Hess assaulted a Black man Mitchell Fqualer who drew a knife. A mob of about one hundred farmers overpowered the town jail, took the Black man to an overhead tank scaffold and he died. No armed or masked mob members were noted.
A St. Petersburg dispatch reports General Dimitri Fredovich Trepolt commandant of the imperial palace died of angina pectoris at his villa in Peterhom on Saturday evening. He was linked with reaction and oppression in Rugala and described as tyrannical by inclination and conviction.
A northbound Rock Island train plunged from a failed Cimarron river bridge at Dover Oklahoma killing Hank Littlefield and others. Locomotive, smoker and day coach disappeared. mail and baggage cars escaped. Fireman died. engineer and crew survived with injuries as four men clung to the smoker before it sank. The Interstate Commerce Commission in Washington ruled on railroad rate law provisions. It holds that payments for transportation must be in money. For round trip excursion rates the commission allows three ratings and permits changes with one day’s notice.
