Farmers Union and Educational Rally Held in County Tabernacle
The county wide Farmers Union and public schools program opened with prayer led by Rev. J. S. Knowles. Prof. M. B. Dennis spoke on scientific agriculture, followed by a strong appeal for cooperation from Palmetto’s Robert Tatum. State School Commissioner J. M. Pound urged communities to value their local schools. Medals were awarded in a long contest featuring Dora Snead and many local students and teachers from Mitchell Hill, Lisbon, Robinson, Mt. Springs, Little Flock, Line Creek, Glen Grove, Cross Roads, and other schools, highlighting the county’s educators and their pupils. The day closed with praise for the teachers and the educational progress of the county.
