Recurring updates from Fayetteville and surrounding areas detail residents visiting relatives in Henry and Mississippi, schooling and millinery movements in Atlanta, and local social events. Readers note guests from Yatedville and Fairburn, piano additions, trips to Young Harris Institute, and a Fayetteville Institute music class lead by Ruth Edwards with a students’ gathering and refreshments.
The Showalter Normal School of Music concert at the Institute auditorium featured seventy pupils performing under Prof. A. J. Showalter. Diplomas and normal grade certificates were issued to many, with P. M. Boyde and J. W. Askew leading in written work. A large, attentive audience of about four hundred praised the effort and financial success of the undertaking.
Mrs. W. L. Smith and her daughters Misses Vassie and Bessie are visiting the family of W. B. Mallory near Corinth this week.
The July adjourned term of the city court convened last Monday but the heavy criminal docket prevented civil business. Verdicts include C H Jones guilty with $30 fine, Henry Greer not guilty, and multiple mistrials. Sentences range up to $300 for cruelty to animals and $100 for a misdemeanor with Son Daniel, while others are not guilty or bond forfeited. Court adjourned to meet again second Monday in October.
Mrs Mae Milner died here last Sunday night after a period of poor health. She was the eldest daughter of Mr Jno E Travis of this place and a longtime member of the local Methodist church. Funeral services were led by Rev J D Snyder at the church Monday afternoon at four, with burial in Fayetteville cemetery. She leaves a husband two young children and many relatives. Our sympathies go to the bereaved.
Last Monday at eight o'clock the Fayetteville Institute opened with good attendance. Prof. Pettis begins his third year in charge of higher departments while Miss Louella Perry leads the intermediate division and Mrs J O Pettis the Remary department with Miss Sallie Fannie Hambric in charge of music. The principal pledges best efforts to make the school second to none.
Joe Wynn, a well known Coweta county resident living near Wynn's mill, died last Tuesday after months of paralysis. Burial took place at Coax Chapel Wednesday with funeral services by Rev. O. E. Ham and W. A. Davis. He leaves a family and many relatives to mourn.
The family of Mr. and Mrs. J. E. Travis express gratitude to the people of Hayette ville for their kindness during the illness and passing of Mrs. A. K. Milner. May the Lord bless them.

Mr C W Whatley of Kenwood delivered Fayetteville’s first bale of the season on Wednesday. The Fay etteville Mercantile Co bought it for 13 12 cents. Last year the first bale sold for 9 cents to the same firm. This year the bale was stored at the Farmers Union warehouse by J Adams who handles keys books and supervision in the new building near Ordinary Lewis.
The Planters and Peoples Mutual Fire Insurance Policy of Fryette County met in the courthouse August 31 and organized with A. O. Blalock as President L. T. Roberts as Secretary and Treasurer Directors include J. D. Evans W. N. Bearden W. J. Davis C. A. Thornton T. O. Makeven J. J. Malone and Dr. E. Bees at Chas. Thornton S. C. A meeting of officers and directors was called with a date set for the next meeting and all members invited to attend. plus local social notes on Annie Weldon Georgia Kitchens W B Hollingsworth J J Arnall Emmett Ward and Dr. Philips.

Miss Lilian Heppinstall of Atlanta visiting Miss Irene Kitchens. A. O. Blalock has several houses and lots for sale in Fayetteville. Mrs. J. M. Harwell of Nyson visited Mrs. C. Coppage this week.
