Farmers Institute a Great Success in Fayette County
The Farmers Institute drew an estimated fifteen hundred attendees despite early weather concerns. Speeches by G L Harris Rast Branson urged fertilizer use changes and school improvement. Hor D B Blalock funded a large community feast with 1000 pounds of meat and 700 loaves of bread, followed by lessons on home canning and school work. A permanent institute was organized with A O Blalock president and W M Speer secretary. Resolutions praised the speakers and Blalock’s generosity and school support.
