Commencement Exercises at Fayetteville High School
The Fayetteville High School commencement program concluded Friday night after Wednesday’s exercises. Daisy Murphey won the gold medal in declamation, with Vannie Stinchcomb and Louise Culpepper close behind. Prof J S McRee urged support for higher education as he closed the event, marking the Pettis couple’s third and most successful year of teaching.

Mrs Manse Banks of near Rest died at her home Tuesday morning at 9 30 after years of illness. She was sister to T D and Rogan Farrer of Fayetteville and to Mrs Whatley nearby. Survived by her husband three children and her mother. Burial in Fayetteville cemetery Wednesday with Rev Snyder officiating before many relatives and friends. A longtime Methodist and devoted Christian woman.

Sunday school was very good here last Sunday. J W Adams of Union Grove visited our school and gave an interesting talk. Bobby and others attended singing at Union Grove Sunday afternoon and reported a nice time. Miss Claude Ward and Miss Lillie Ward of The Rock visited with Misses Berta Clitus and Eva Walker. Ruth Milam of Atlanta is spending a few days with relatives at this place. Mrs Luther Loyde of Oak Grove spent Sunday with her son Andrew Loyde. Mr B L Johnson is very feeble at this writing. Luther Parrott and family of Ebeneezer spent Sunday with Jim McElvany and family. Mr and Mrs J M Post spent Sunday with their daughter Mrs C D Haynes. J L Walker and family spent a day recently with relatives at Oak Grove. Bobby met Uncle Primus recently and heard the same old complaint. Several young people attended the commencement at Fairburn last Sunday night and enjoyed it.
