Florida farmers are advised by the Florida Experiment Station and the Agricultural Extension Division to spray watermelon vines with 4-4-50 Bordeaux mixture to prevent anthracnose. Begin spraying as vines run, repeat after a week and then two weeks after fruit set, and apply immediately if disease appears, with a follow up about 10 days later during frequent rains.
The Atlanta Birmingham and Atlantic Railway Company asks to discontinue its Aberdeen Georgia agency.
