President Wilton of Seaboard Air Line releases statement blaming the Rockingham operator for failing to hold No 44 for an extra freight train after a collision with a passenger train. The report lists victims including White Frank B. Lewis engineer H S Byrd baggage master and numerous others from Rockingham Laurinburg Bennettsville and Hamlet with two unknown men dying later en route to Charlotte.
