S A Burks traveled to Cullman Alabama this week for the funeral of his brother Thomas J Burks who died at his home near Cullman Friday of gastritis. The deceased formerly lived in this county and for years was a resident of Alabama serving as postmaster at Vine Mountaine. He leaves a large family to mourn his passing.
A letter from a preacher recounts a soul stirring revival at Concord church in South Georgia. The writer notes large crowds, many souls finding God, and hardshell converts joining the Methodist church from Quitman Morven and nearby areas. He plans to move to Inman for a pastorate after the Sunday services.
County rally at the Tabernacle on August 1 features speakers Hon S E Lee of Grantville and John Hart of Colege Park with plans for Hon Thus E Watson to attend. Public exercises invite all residents to learn what the union is doing and aims to accomplish for the county.
By order of the County Board of Education Fayette County voters in each school district will meet on Saturday July 27 at the school site to elect three trustees. Trustees must be citizens of good moral character and earnest supporters of public education. Polls open at 10:00 a.m. and close at 4:00 p.m. Let everyone do their part and elect the best men.
A Sunday school party with members from AS and L T Roberts classes enjoyed a pleasant day despite rain. The crowd praised twenty two girls for the splendid dinner and noted the boys were well behaved and the event a success.
