The Baby Show held on courthouse grounds by the Ladies Missionary Society of the Baptist church raised funds for an organ. Contest limited to children under three and a half. blue ribbons awarded to top boy and girl, pink for runner up. Prizes went to Lee McCollum and Vernon Smith, with runners up Fred Brown and Mary Francis Lester. Ice cream and cake served. ballots at ten cents. The event drew praise and playful rivalries among families.

Municipal Election Results for Mayor and Council Pass
The annual election was held Wednesday with no Beppaton to the old ticket. Citizens feared the duty but rallied to vote, and J W Culpepper won the mayoralty while E P Mize H Stephens John Brogdon C D Redwine J A Lester were elected to the council after a long day at the polls.

City Court Verdicts Reported With Short Session
City Court convened last Monday under Judge Hollingsworth with Solicitor T W Lester presiding. Loss of Two Children in One Day at Hopewell
Last Monday morning the seven months old child of Mr and Mrs James Smith died about eleven o'clock and four o'clock the same day their two year old son died. both were buried together in Hopewell on Tuesday evening. They had been sick only a few days. The News extends sympathy to the family.

Death of Mr Will Rivers at his father's near Bethany
Mr Will Rivers died of consumption Monday at his father R A Rivers home near Bethany after months of illness and a Red Oak treatment. He was buried at Bethany church Tuesday, leaving two young children. Local notes mention sympathy to the bereaved as well as various community visits and upcoming events in Fayetteville including a normal school start August 12 and a music opportunity with Prof A J Showalter.
