Local residents share visits with relatives from Elberton Douglasville Madison county Commerce Columbus and Texas. A two and half year old son of J R Edmundson died after an injury at home in Atlanta. A community picnic drew about five hundred attendees with ample food and cheerful scenes.
A letter from a Sixth Congressional District candidate states appreciation for past support and announces intent to run for the 67th Congress to succeed themselves. The candidate plans a district canvass and hopes to meet voters personally, thanking constituents for past favors.
Our Sunday school was slim last Sunday due to memorial singing at The Rock. Farmers in the area hope for rain. Mrs. Mattie Lora McCullers and Jessie Head visited Mrs. Alice MceHachern of Hopeful. Miss Berta Walker returned from Atlanta. Mrs. Evie Flowers is sick. Miss Janet Griffin visited Miss Mattle Head. Odessa Ellison stayed with her aunt Mrs Mattie Walker. Elonza Long and family visited Campbell county. Miss Elsie Smith visited Miss Mattie Lora McCullars. Mrs. Cora Harper and children visited here. Mr. Harry Carroll of Palmette visited J. F. Harper. Charlie Elder died after weeks ill. burial at Sandy Creek. Sympathy extended to his wife and family. School begins next Monday. best effort to make a short term beneficial.

Everett Gay a 12 year old boy riding with a companion fell from a horse Sunday afternoon and died soon after a physician arrived. Son of Mr and Mrs T R Gay he was active in the Baptist church and Sunday school. Funeral services were held Tuesday at the Baptist church conducted by Rev C L Foote and assisted by Revs G P Gay Walter Carmichael and L P Glass.

The annual short course for the boys and girls club work will be held at the Sixth District A. and M. School on July 19 20 and 21. The first two days focus on club work and on July 21 there will be a program for farmers and their wives marking boll weevil day. The program will be announced next week.
