Hopeful locals report Berner Hartley and sister Lizzie returned home after a week with their aunt Mrs Thomas Stephens of Floyd County. Miss Mae Young came home after a three week visit with her aunt in Newnai. Several local residents visited relatives including Mrs L R Parrott and Mrs Edd Hill. Judge Davis held a busy docket with Emma Parrott attending.
Last Friday and Saturday were the coldest days of the season. Several good dogs were killed here. J. F. Whitlock moved to Oak Grove to make his future home. E. Whitlock bought stock from Harrell at Clover and moved to Aberdeen. J. W. Askew moved his family to College Park. Walter Spratlin of New York visited for the holidays. Walter Brown is sick with the flu. W. W. Chandler of Atlanta spent a day or two with relatives. Ed Wynn moved his family to Jonesboro. Gladis Ward visits relatives at Oak Grove. Sunday school was good. attend next Sunday at two o'clock sharp. Miss Nannie Lizzie Tate spent Friday night with Alma Brown.
Treasury Circular 128 introduces the 1919 War Savings Certificate series on the same terms as 1918, with a new blue 1919 stamp. Certificates mature in five years and can be redeemed with registration and tax exemption. Thrift Stamps for 1919 match 1918 offerings, and partly filled Thrift cards can be completed and exchanged for War Savings stamps in 1919.
By agreement of heirs at law, the court will sell a Fayetteville house and lot and multiple parcels in the 624th district G M on the first Tuesday in February 1919. The property includes a 125 ft frontage lot on the Southern Railway, a 46 acre tractor parcel, and combined 200 acre land tracts, all divided for distribution among the heirs. W L Stinchcomb, agent for heirs, signs the notice January 6, 1919.
