For Sale or Rent offers a four room house with large bags in city limits on Jonesboro street. GEORGE W. HEARD lists peas wanted cash for all varieties white and colored. Mr J P Fitzgerald moved to Hapeville this week. Rev R F Eakes to preach at the Methodist church Sunday and night. County Teachers Association meets Saturday January 20 with new officers to be elected. Local names remembered include Roxie Blafock and J N Harws among others.
Governor Harris appoints Een. C. O. B. Bloodwort to the court of appeals amid statewide approval. He won the most votes in the recent election but did not prevail at the convention. County Board of Education set rules for the year and Prof. Thornton began his first session as secretary. Most schools opened Monday. Mrs. Ellen Z. Camp and Hon. W. C. Adamson wed in Newman last Monday. Adamson has served in Congress over twenty years.
Card of thanks expresses gratitude to Woolsey and nearby residents for kindness during the illness and death of a wife and mother. The note adds they will remember the support and mentions several locals and students resuming college work at G N I, Emory, The ech, and Stone.
Jersey heifer due to calve in January, four registered Berkshire pigs, a registered bred gilt, one grade gilt to farrow in March. Also Cleveland Cotton seed and Marlboro Seed Corn for sale or exchange.
The monthly session of the Confederate veterans convened at the Court House in Brooks on Tuesday. Attendance was light due to threatening weather. Mr. J. W. Graham presided and Rev. A. B. Sanders led devotional exercises. Dues were paid as members spoke on topics. Attendees included J. W. Graham, H. Reeves, E. B. Weldon, J. G. Hightower, A. B. Tinsley, Thomas Holt, John Eason, S. G. Jones, S. B. Lewis, H. Martin, T. M. Murphy, and J. W. Smith.
The spring term started on New Year’s Day with large attendance despite rain. Sixteen new pupils have enrolled and more are expected. December attendance prize went to Miss Head’s third and fourth grade room at 90.75 percent, with third grade at 100 percent. Miss Chatfield’s fifth and sixth grade room was second at 97.88 percent, and the high school room third at 96.97 percent. School average stood at 97 percent, noted as a high attendance record.
J A Williams of Greenbrier Tennessee says after four Tanlac bottles he gained 25 pounds. He suffered from nervous indigestion and weakness, weighed 135 pounds before improvement, and now feels strong with a fine appetite. Tanlac is sold by local agents in Fayetteville Inman Woolsey Brooks Kenwood.
J H Young and his young daughters Fannie Lee and Lorene spent time with parents in Fayetteville. Mrs Marshall Jackson visited her son near Ebenezer. Bennett Jacksord and family with Joe Eason of Alabama visited relatives here. Miss Vesta Teel of Atlanta stayed with Misses Sicile and Mtie Deavenport. Kilgoe family and others visited relatives and spent holidays at home.
