Surveys for draining 500 to 600 acres southeast of Belle Plaine via a 12 inch by 3,000 foot main tile and smaller laterals. The main tile outlets into the Iowa river from a 15 acre pond on land owned by Jacob Schubert J W Guinn and Mrs J B Mosnat who share in the cost. Largest fall is at the river bank making drainage feasible. Other nearby wet lands may follow as surveys show enough fall for large tile drainage to reclaim 2,000 to 3,000 more acres now too wet for cultivation.
The 1909 personal property valuation for Delaware county rises to 3,838,526 with Manchester at 740,080. Moneys and credits total 1,672,000, up 175,434 from last year. County livestock, horses, cattle, swine, and sheep show various increases, with 2,268 men available for military service and no real estate tax figures provided.
