In Marshalltown Iowa on June 21 three non union machinists replacing strikers at Lennox Machine Company were attacked by a mob of strikers and sympathizers. They repulsed the attack by firing into the crowd. R J Benton and Wm Dulany of Omaha were wounded in the head by missiles. R W Howard believes he shot a man in the leg as the mob scattered before police arrived.
Des Moines hosts the County Attorneys' Association of Iowa on Wednesday and Thursday and the Iowa State Bar Association convention on Thursday and Friday. About five hundred attorneys are expected, with most state county attorneys attending. Former Governor C S Thomas of Colorado will be the principal speaker at the bar meeting.
