Horticultural Commission organizes districts in San Juan County
The Horticultural Commission of San Juan County met in Aztec on March 17 to set district inspectors and terms for board members. Districts cover San Juan Pine Rivers Aztec Bloomfield Farmington Lia Plata Blora Vista Jauicland Cedar Hill. The spray rule recommends one pound lead per 25 gallons of water and first spraying at petals fall.

The Granite Block Company near completion of a new furnace three times larger than the old one. It measures five feet by twenty feet with a 3000 pound per two and a half hour capacity. Coal roasted blocks in an under over heat cycle to double efficiency. contracts exist for five buildings and rapid work is under way.

Visiting drake reports growth rumors in san juan valley
W. E. Drake formerly with Herabin McGaffey at Thoreau and now in Farmington visited Albuquerque yesterday. He traveled from Farmington to Thoreau and then to the northwest by rail. He praises conditions in the San Juan valley where settlers are flocking due to prospering seasons and talks of soon widespread railroad construction.

Messrs C J Carlisle G O Shumway and W W White bought patent lands under the Jackson ditch at La Plata for 10000 acres and 310000. They also closed on Farmington fruit ranches with D B Ross for 88000 and acquired unsold lots. Mortlock Davis and Hubbard bought 40 acres of fruit land at 2100 per acre.
