Free Rabies Treatment Policy Reported for Bite Victims
The state health commissioner offers free treatment for people bitten by rabid dogs or cats after reporting cases to health authorities. In July through August this year the state treated 14 bite victims including 5 in Pauls Valley where 17 people were bitten by a rabid cat. Disease exposure requires prompt action or death from hydrophobia may result if treatment is delayed beyond four days.

Tragedy in Fletcher: Annie Whaley Dies After Oil Fire
Annie Whaley, 28, of Fletcher, Oklahoma, died after her clothes caught fire while oiling a stove Thursday afternoon. She was born in LaBelle Missouri and moved to Oklahoma seven years ago with her family. Funeral services were held at Fletcher church and cemetery with her parents and siblings in attendance.

The town board met Monday evening and approved a few bills while discussing welfare issues. W. W. Brinehill resigned from the fourth ward after moving to the second ward, and S. M. Davis was appointed to fill the vacancy. C. F. Beandon then resigned from the second ward, with W. W. Branskill appointed to fill that vacancy.

Charles V Mosher dies after brief kidney illness
Charles V Mosher of the Mt Seatt neighborhood died at home Friday after a brief illness believed to be kidney trouble. Funeral services were held Saturday. interment followed at Mt Seatt cemetery. He was born September 28, 1904, in Shawnee Oklahoma, aged 36. Survived by wife Maggine Cranon de Deo, five sisters, and his father and mother. He joined Mt Seatt Baptist Church four years ago.

Elgin Hotel Sold at Sheriff Sale in Lawton
The Elgin Hotel, formerly owned by J. M. Crawford, was sold at sheriff’s sale in Lawton on Monday morning. P. T. Lark, attorney for the first mortgage holder, bid the top price and secured the property, then resold it to Crawford, who becomes owner and will continue to operate the hotel.
