A prominent county acquaintance writes from Oklahoma on May 19 1914 to Mr H P Wettengel of Elgin praising his aspirations and pledging support saying what every man should stand for and signing sincerely.
The Elgin school board met Saturday night and re-employed J. H. Wilshite as principal for the coming school year. Two other positions remained unfilled. Miss Mae Carter, the primary teacher, has been offered a job near her Sterling home at $70 per month and is likely to accept.
John P. Hickman announced Mr. Roosevelt will deliver ten speeches in Oklahoma to support the progressive state ticket. He named Albert Beveridge Victor Murdock Henry J. Allen and Governor Johnson of California as speakers who will visit to promote the same cause.
By order of Referee in Bankruptcy I will sell at public auction to the highest bidder for cash at 10 a.m. June 8, 1914 at Elwin Oklahoma all the stock of goods wares merchandise store fixtures notes and accounts of J E Weber Hardware Company.
Clyde Merriman of the northwest district owns 710 acres of wheat described as fine. Observers judging the field lately estimate a potential yield near 30 bushels per acre if conditions stay favorable.
J M Hinds offered Hiram Quigley a two room house and lots in Chickasha in exchange for five hogs averaging about 80 pounds each. Quigley refused the trade making the Chickasha property seem cheap by comparison.

Reporters say a man was struck by a westbound passenger train between Ft. Sill and Lawton. The train backed up to inspect the body, which appeared to have been dead all night. the coroner at Lawton was notified.
Comanche County Normal Institute starts next Monday June 1 at Lawton High School. All subjects in the new requirements for certificates will be taught.

Largest crowd in the Elgin school auditorium filled every space Friday night with standing room on the stairs. Country and nearby towns sent many attendees as the program featured recitations drills songs and musical numbers lasting over two hours.

Judge McWihhoes spoke on Modern Justice at Carhe. A male quartet from Lawton performed. Abner Matcher bound over to district court on cattle theft for $600.
The Cache Booster plant has been relocated to Lawton where it will aid the production of the Comanche County Citizen. This shift leaves Pe with reduced capacity and only outside bounty remaining near Lay.
