Last Thursday afternoon George Reed killed neighbor G. W. Whitman aged 4 at his Mountain Park home during a drinking and cards quarrel. A similar case near Durant involved John Sims killed and two others wounded in a craps dispute.
Trummer of Hastings toured Fort Worth via car with cattle to showcase silage fed stock. He reports silage fed cattle bring about $8.00 per hundred, dry fed about $5.75, arguing silos save feed and raise value. He owns two 17 ton silos and fed corn silage cut early to preserve it. The example aims to prove silos’ value to farmers facing dry weather in Jefferson County.

The Chandler township board led by O. H. Putney Gee W Brown and John M Lodus met for an annual meeting on Tuesday December 80. They reported funds for the year with receipts from the county treasurer totaling 2768 dollars and disbursements of 12.70 dollars. Cash on hand stood at 876.27 dollars.
A good sized crowd attended the G. H. Beckenfield sale Saturday afternoon and from all reports property sold well.
Taxpayers are directed to pay their taxes at the Bank of Figin where they will be treated with standard service and assistance for processing payments.
Santa Claus left large pictures at the school house. A. E. Conard moves to Armstrong farm east of hin. Mr and Mrs Weivel and Mrs H Lodes of Okarche visit Kolker and Lodes families. John Cobbr and family rent and move to Vasen Walling farm for year. Coffins host children and grandchildren at Christmas. Due to news security pupils of district 18 will cease to whisper after this issue.
Fl Casey of near Sterling praised silo feeding cot ton seed meal for two years cattle. He arrived Thursday to haul out seed meal and reports his herd fed well on the silo produced feed. He is among the men new to the area last summer and says the cattle did fine on it.
A Holiness revival is planned to begin at the Methodist church around mid January with more definite notice to be provided next week by organizers.
Two women, both described as colored, fought in a yard of a dance hall in the east end when one bit the other’s forehead during an embrace. Idyl Laanders is in serious condition from blood poisoning. A woman was arrested Friday, held on an investigation as authorities await outcome of injures to the second woman. County Attorney Orr and Sheriff Nix were involved.
Two officers entered a negro division in La to arrest soldier JJ Smith after rumors of a concealed gun. Smith drew and was disarmed. he appeared before Justice Harper and was found guilty of carrying a concealed weapon and fined $50. He also faced a $300 bond on a separate assault with intent to kill charge.
