Elgin boys visited Walters for a basketball game played under Walters rules, while Elgin tried 1918-14 rules. Singing Class Notes and Holiday Schedule

Absences marked in a singing class Friday due to holiday, box supper, and other events. Students reviewed scales in different keys and resumed work. Pie and Oyster Supper Draws Good Attendance at Methodist Event

The Methodist church hosts a pie and oyster supper Thursday evening. Oysters were scarce due to no trains, some bought locally but short of demand. Receipts totaled 17 dollars, and attendees enjoyed a hearty late dinner.

Elgin Gin Sets Ginning Pace Ahead of 1912 Milestone

Tuesday morning B W Hamilton announced that the Elgin Gin has ginned more cotton this year than in 1912. They also have enough bolls in sheds to gin about 100 bales, with more cotton in the fields if rain allows picking to resume.
