Wreck Delays Elgin Northbound Freight Trains

A north bound freight wrecked near the Elgin stockyard Saturday around 9 30 in the morning. One empty car overturned and another derailed while a Lawton wrecker worked to clear the main track. The wreck blocked the line for hours as passengers watched, and trains waited until the main track was freed.

Last Wednesday evening in Elgin a gathering enjoyed music at a home when mice approached. T. O. Miller set a spring trap and, stopping to empty it, he did not sing much. He caught six mice in about an hour.

First Cotton Bale Marketed in Celine See Webb Report

The first bale of cotton to be marketed in Celine is tied to H. I. Webb at Buley Souran east of Oklahoma City in Ottawa County. Last year the first bale in Elgin was delivered by Sam Mitchell on August 27. This year dry weather delayed market entry, but recent rains may speed the season.

Revival meetings move across towns with varied leaders

In Elgin a Baptist revival begins Friday evening led by a state approved pastor Rev. Deter. The Methodist revival opens at Beaver Bend next, under Rev. unknown. A Baptist revival at Cyril ends Monday night with 21 conversions in nine days. Meetings at Stecker feature Nance of Temple in charge. In Sterling Baptists are led by Rev. Seay, and in Fletcher a Baptist meeting is hosted by Rev. Jeter and Rev. Stephens of Lawton.

Raid Lands Liquor Warrants At Sapulpa Lodges

A DOJ raid on Saturday shut down nine alleged liquor outlets in Sapulpa including Elks Bayles Moose and Owl lodge halls. Officers seized 25 gallons of whiskey 1000 bottles of beer and smaller quantities of wine and gin. Two men were arrested for liquor introduction including J H Mouter a Sanulpa Owl order steward who was released on a $500 bond. The other suspect remains jailed in Tulea.

Chickasha Oklahoma August 15 the Allahoma Central Railroad of this city filed the largest mortgage in the county for 1200000 dollars in favor of the Columbia Trust Co of New York the mortgage tax on the transaction was 6000 dollars the company paid the tax and at once sued the county for the return claiming the mortgage tax of this state is unconstitutional
